περιάγνυται

περιάγνυται
περιάγνυται
Grammatical information: v.
Meaning: of ὄψ (Π 78), after this of ἠχώ (Hes. Sc. 279).
Origin: GR [a formation built with Greek elements]
Etymology: From ἄγνυμι. Acc. to Fick 1, 124 to be separated from ἄγνυμι `break' ("is on all sides broken") and to be drawn to Skt. vagnú- m. `sound, call, invocation', Lat. vāgiō `lament' ("sounds roundabout"); attractive and propely only principally doubtful. Or is the supposedly late Ilias-place Π 78 created after an unknown example through a misunderstanding? It is about a voice which is broken.
